Mahesh, without going into full detail, there's no "inefficiency" involved in what you've described. I'd be confident that the 1400 could put out more than 110 watts and is at least as powerful as the 2095 was. The relative settings of the volume controls on two different receivers to attain a given sound level is no measure of their power capabilities. A lower powered receiver might well be as loud at a 40% setting as a more powerful one would be at a 60% setting. It's a matter of the gain in the amplifier and the calibration of the volume control. So, if you want -10dB or even more, that's fine.
