Well I finally received my QS8's about a week ago. Sadly, I haven’t had the time to install them until last night. I had to finish setting up the HT room first. We re-did all the speaker cables, wall mounted the 50” Panny, re-painted the room, got a new TV stand for the audio components and then finally got the QS8's up on the wall!! All I need to do now is hook everything up to the receiver and fire it up!

But I need to complain a little about the QS8's mounting system. To me, Axiom needs to work on this small but important feature. The one thing I noticed when I opened the box last night was the T brackets. Honestly, these things look cheap & very thin. You can actually bend it with two fingers! I'm sure it holds well and does the job, but I need to punch 6 holes in the wall to make sure it does versus 2 on my older Energy C-R1's or the Monitor Audio surrounds I was going for originally.

Before installing the brackets I was looking at the back of the speaker and was wondering about the bottom part of the bracket and where the binding post where located… To me, things seemed a little tight back there, and I wasn't wrong! After the T bracket was screwed into the wall and the speaker was attached to it there really wasn’t much place for anything else. The bottom part of the T bracket block’s a decent amount of the access to the back part of the binding post. And In my case, once the 8’s are on the wall there’s no way I can use banana plugs. I can either spend $90 on the other brackets Axiom sells on the site or punch a hole in the wall to get extra space. So I needed to go bare wire.

Don’t get me wrong, the QS8 itself is a great speaker. It's very well built, feels massive and it looks damn nice. But I really dislike the bracket and mounting system.

The Energy C-R1's I owned before had a center piece that was screwd into the back with 4 mounting post's on each side. The center piece was recessed by an inch (more or less) on the inside and had the binding post facing upward. This made things easy to install and a piece of cake to connect. This is just my .02 regading the QS8’s mounting system. This doesnt make it a deal breaker but I would have expected something else.

Heres a pic of the C-R1's back... this is nt mine, just a pic I found online
