I would not say they are power hogs, actually they are very efficient and can play very loud using little power, rated at 95dB inroom 1watt/meter. I don't exactly remember the specs, but I think Axiom has tested them before in the lab pumping wattage hungry music at 700+ watts continously with peaks exceeding 1K watts for 24-48+ hours.
