The Shure 440 which you can get for <$100 is an excellent headphone. My biggest beef would be its clamping force. But it does remind me alot of one of my favorite closed headphones the AKG K271MKII. The 440 actually has a more punchier bass sound but the 271 just has such an amazing midrange for a closed headphone. I get slight fatigue from the 440 at higher listening levels, not as bad as grado or alessandro cans. But the 271, now way sir!
The 940 sounds amazing I might buy those one day. It also has the most balanced frequency response among the Shure closed headphones. Keep in mind balanced doesn't mean totally flat response
