I saw them on possibly their first tour in 72 or 73. They played in a small hockey arena with no backstage. I was about 15 or 20 feet back from center stage. It was a great show. At one point Peter Gabriel was doing a song in a gold costume. When the song finished the room went to black, and then the costume exploded and burnt off him. In less then 1 second from the end of the last song he jumped right into "I know what I like (in your wardrobe)" and the crowd went nuts. Since there was no backstage, and they were young and excited, they hung around after and I had a chance to ask him a question. Since I was young, and it was the end of a rock concert, I have no recollection of what I asked. Anyway... Selling England By the Pound is the great album - accept no substitutes.
