i have a 93 and i purchased this region free mod kit on ebay, it works perfectly and it will also work on my 105D & 105 players. it can be installed externally, no need to open the player. however, if you want to, it's internally installable too. i highly recommend it; worth every penny imho. it plays blu region A,B,C & dvd regions 1,2,3,4,5,6

good luck with the 93, sorry i can't help you with the 83. i have an 83 myself and it's doing nothing! i'm gonna put it up for sale on CL!
