I would almost bet that they were not in that condition when they left the Axiom plant. It is so rare that you ever hear of such problems, normally the packaging is so good that my guess is the DHL guy and the UPS guy must have stolen the box from the Fed EX guy and played keep away, tossing it back and forth over his head until at one point it was tipped by the Fed EX guy and fell to its death. Actually, it sounds like you brought it back to life though
Sorry just trying to raise your spirits, Axiom will make it right, just call them..
ps: was there any indication that the package they were in was dropped, dented, etc....
