Missed a question. The sub output jacks are normally used with a stereo receiver which does not have all the built in crossovers of an AV receiver. The sub outputs go through a high pass filter which, if you connect them to "power amp in" on your receiver, accomplishes roughly the same thing as setting your fronts to "small".

You have an AV receiver with built in crossovers so you don't need to bother with the sub out jacks.
