Well, i've just ordered a pair of axiom m80ti's.
But having a problem with my receiver the Yamaha RX-v630 that doesn't want to work nice in stereo mode,
I thought it was best too just bye a new system.
I've got some idea's but i just can't choose, and i'm not really able to test them all. So some advice would be nice.
First of all i've had my eye on Rotel.
- Rotel RC 1070 pre-amp with the Rotel RB1070 amp. And probably the Rotel RDV 1060 or Denon 2910 DVD player.
Second
- The Odyssey audio stratos amp, hearing a lot of good things about them but i won't be able to test them myself.
Dvd player, will be again the Denon 2910.
And the last one
- The Denon AVR-3805 Receiver with the Denon 2910 DVD-player. Keeps my options open
if i want to upgrade to a full home cinema sound set(that won't be until next year), but i'm not sure if the
Denon AVR-3805 works nicely in Stereo mode.
I don't want to have the same problem like i'm having now with the Yamaha RX-V630.
I would like to here youre thoughts about it.
Other systems are welcome too, trying to keep my options open
My budget is around the 2000,-
Room is something like 9x18x15 (HxWxD) i think never work with feet here in the Netherlands.
in meters it's 3x6x5 (HxWxD)

Hi HansoS,
First of all, welcome! Congrats on the purchase of the M80s. I'm sure they will make the beginnings of a fine stereo set-up.
I have not heard any of those components, but I can offer my two cents. I own the Odyssey Khartago amp and am running it through my H/K receiver. Many guys here feel that there is little to no difference between SS amps, but I must say I really enjoy the sound of my Odyssey amp. Use it to power the front two channels while I'm watching/listening to multi channel sources. Paired with my Denon 2900 I get excellent two channel reproduction as well as 5.1 surround. Klaus is really easy to work with at Odyssey. He's more worried about finding the right solution for your needs rather than selling you the most expensive thing. Plus, if you decide to upgrade the Odyssey amp to a 3 or 5 channel amp, I believe Klaus will give you trade-in credit for the Stratos. Having a separate amp to power the M80s will really take the strain off of the receiver especially when running all channels. Even though you're only looking for a 2 channel system now, at least you'll have some options for the future.
These are just my thoughts, not a definite solution. I'm sure others will chime in with good (and probably better) advice. Your other options are just as viable, just a matter of trying to whittle it down to what you want.

I use my 80s in pure stereo mode with great enjoyment. I added the Outlaw Monos to get the fuller sound the 80s are capable of. My Integra matches perfectly with my system.
I think there is a 3805 on Ubid right now for 699. Refurbed, but that's the way I bought mine.

Welcome!!
Crutchfield is having a sale on the 3805 right now. Bug can tell you how he like his. I'm also in the market, but am currently undecided. I'm leaning toward a Yahama 4600 with a pair of Outlaw M200 to drive the fronts. Etailer prices, that ought to be about $2000, maybe a little less.

I'm not really sure what problem you are having, is it because the yammy had issues driving the 4ohm M80's? Anyway, Denon or HK will have no problems with the 4ohm load. I have the Denon 2805 and in either Stereo, Direct, or Pure Direct modes music sounds dynomite. You would be also fiine with your other options, however, I'm not familiar with seperates as much, so the other folks will have to update you. Another option is looking at Outlaw Audio, very nice stuff and they sell direct like Axiom.

If you are looking at the Rotel equipment to drive your M80s I would have to say that is a fine choice imo.I use the Rotel RC 1070 and RB 1080 with my M80s.I can't really comment on how they sound with any other brand of amplfication because this is all I am used to with the M80s.Your room is about the size as mine. The 1080 will drive the M80s effortlessly, mine only gets warm to the touch even when pushed hard.If what you are looking for is a good 2 channel system you would be hard pressed to find one better for the money.

I have the Rotel RB-1080/RC-1070 combo with my Axiom M60s, and am very happy with their performance. Great system all the way.
I can also assure you that both RB-1070 (I had it before I upgraded to 1080) and 1080 can easily handle 4 ohms.

I'm using the Denon 3805 and the 2910 with M22's for stereo. I found the 2910 does a very nice job of reproducing stereo music. It made a noticable sound improvement on my old speakers even before I got my Axiom speakers. Both units have Pure Direct modes to eliminate all but the critical circuits for stereo reproduction. My only minor disappointment with the 2910 was the minimal bass management system for the multi-channel DVD-A and SACD formats. Bottom line, I like this pair and have been very impressed with their performance. I bought both as refurbished units from DAKMART and the price was well below your budget. Mine have a couple minor dings and dents in the case side and rear, but you can't see them when they're in the cabinet.

Have the 80's with a newly purchased Denon 885/2105
with a Pioneer DV588AS.
Both work really well together and sound great!

Buy the best you can afford. I’d stick to HK, NAD, Rotel…..and lastly Denon. All will drive a 4 ohm load all day and night. I have yet to read anywhere, with any consistancy, that Yamaha will do the same. But there are a few Yamaha supporters who love them that will tell you differently.
