Any experience with this DVR?

I am looking for a DVR with basic Cable And OTA RF inputs.

TiVos are pretty cheap these days... Yeah, yeah, monthly fee, blah blah blah. Just get the lifetime subscription. Trust me, it's worth it.

I haven't seen a HD Tivo that wasn't DirectTV. Am I missing something. I need a box with a cable input and antenna input and component outs.

You're correct Tivo is only HD for Directv. But you can get an HD DVR from comcast, no OTA though.

Sony has a similar box to the LG. About $1k though.

Sony DHG-HDD250 or 500 models are $600 and $800. They don't get good reviews for fringe areas, but I might end up trying one of them.

Yes, there are stand alone TiVo boxes. Go to http://www.tivo.com for more info. You can get one for probably $100 right now, plus subscription fees. I have a standalone box, basic cable. There's only one tuner (OTA or cable), but it works quite nicely.
