I am considering buying a refurbished Denon 985s receiver from ecost for $441 has anyone purchased anything from this etailer and if so what kind of success? What are opinions on refurbished receivers. This receiver will be for my new purchase from Axiom (M60s,VP150,QS8s,EP350)which should be arriving soon

Pik, welcome. The 985(identical to 2805)should be excellent with your Axioms. If you'd do a board search for ecost you'd find quite a bit of discussion, mostly favorable, but with a couple of horror stories such as you get with almost any seller. As to refurbs in general, the feeling is that since they've had a problem fixed and been checked out, there's probably even a better chance of no future problem than with a brand new unit. Again of course, sometimes it doesn't work out that way.

My refurbed 3805 is fine. Bought on Ubid.

I purchased my Denon 885S (2105) from ecost. Not a problem at all. Would do it again.
