ok. i sometimes feel that my axiom m60's sound like the vocals are far away from me while the instuments are close up. sometimes it sounds like the person is singing in a fishbowl...if i'm saying this right. i have played around quite a bit, and some sound great, but other songs sound like crap in my opinion. i need something with great vocals to use to compare. any suggestions? am i the only one who has noticed this effect in 2 channel stereo? i know this is a criticism, and that everyone here loves axiom, but it might just be me. thanks

Yes, Michael, get this one , guaranteed to sound terrific. In addition, possibly some of the songs you listen to "sound like crap" because they are crap.

Axiom's tend to be accurate. This means they reproduce what was originally recorded onto whatever media you are listening to. If the recording was done poorly the voices will sound poorly. The old computer saying of "garbage-in=garbage-out" applies. So put in something recorded that was recorded well and you will be in awe.

I betcha ol' Jinx can gather up all of those downloads and run 'em buy CC or BB and trade 'em in on 'real' quality Cd's, they will be more than happy to do that. I betcha.

That's what I'd do, uh huh...I would have already been out the door.

You resolved your own problem, by the way you know it is illegal to download music, unless your paying for it, NOT.

I like BrotherBob's ideas, say you got them off some Ebay guy for a great price, take them to Best Buy and see if they will trade you fair and square for new CD's.

Sometimes you guys are shameless . I know, I know, he started it .

Personally, I am horrible at falling behind on the latetst music. I find a few of my favourite CDs and listen to them over and over and over. I think my collection of CDs is about 50 to 60 or so. I originally spent too much money on audio equipment and had nothing left for CDs .

I like to be able to download the occasional tune as some of them I can not seem to find anywhere. Either that or you have to pay huge money to import some CDs. I spent $50 on a CD with George Duke and Billy Cobham!

You're telling me you've spent good money on a home audio system and haven't even invested a single cent in the music you play on it? You've got your priorities screwed up. In another thread, you were going on about how some lyrics really move you. Have you no guilt whatsoever that by downloading all your music, you are not supporting the artists that create this moving music in any way?

You, sir, disgust me.

Funny how a Canada Border Officer may find him self in the big house some day, pretty sad. Doing it is one thing, but bragging to people you don't know is another. Did I forget to tell you I work for the FBI...

I always buy factory-pressed, original, silver CD. I own more than 400. They sound much better in my home stereo, and mostly even in my car. I have an Ipod as well, but only dowload-to-try before purchasing the actual CD, or some tunes that I don't think are worth my money. I know I can do "the lossless thing" with dowloads, but why take the bother when I can just purchase the cd online for a very good price?

well, if you knew your law, you would KNOW it is NOT illegal to download music in Canada...or share music movies etc with friends/relatives as long as it is not for profit. as for the FBI...they can blow me. theycan't touch me in Canada, and i am NOT subject to USA laws....unless i am living in the USA...so give it a small break would ya?

Be careful there Jinx, I heard just today that the industry is starting to go after people in other countries too.

Interesting, so your telling me that music artists don't mind if you illegally download their music on Winmx, Limewire, etc..

They need to make a living also, pretty sad is true Peter.

if the industry REALLY didn't want ppl ripping MP3's and music, they would not allow IPODs, dvd burners, cd burners, etc. blank discs...all that would be illegal....so give me just a small break. and if you have NEVER downloaded any music, you are my hero. and no, i for one do not feel guilty at all. the artists get about .10 per disc sold...the record company gets the rest. if discs cost what they should, say 5.00 each, i'd buy them. but for 20-30.00? no freakin way.

Allow? ALLOW? Fer the love of... Look, buddy...aaarrghhh! I don't know where to begin. So the music industry has executive powers that ALLOWS it do deny sales of new technology? I didn't know that. Guess I should go ahead and burn my reel-to-reel and cassette and VCR and Tivo as well as my dual-layer DVD burner. Meanwhile go ahead and keep posting here asking for advice from Axiophiles while listening to all of your non-Axiom gear and bashing Axiom subs while buying Axiom speakers on eBay and asking advice on how to rip them off for a replacement set. Check out a website called slashdot.org for news on how consumers and lawmakers are pushing back on the industry as far as digital rights go. You are reaping the ill-gotten un-thinking underbelly rewards of the digital age with nary a thought for the consequences of your actions. And you are totally ignoring the gist of setting yourself up with high-end audio equipment. I'll bet you watch DVD's "shrunk" to half-size with online software to avoid actually buying or renting one. And you have the f*cking gall to ask us to help you find a workaround?

wow dude. i never bashed axiom subs...and i don't remember asking how to screw axiom in anyway. you just better deal with the reality that once the horse is out of the gate on mp3's and dvd's it is out. you think any less of someone who copied vhs movies? i BUY tonsof dvd movies...but not all. i have purchased music in the past, but not anymore due to the rediculous pricing they ask for. all the rest, well get a grip. you think i should feel bad becuase i get deals on axiom equipment rather than buy direct from axiom for double the price? gimme a break. i save money wherever i can, and hell, if someone wants to sell me 900.00 usd speakers new in the box for 500.00 usd (my m60's) then why should i feel badly about that? in my books that is SMART....thank you very much...

Do what I do...buy your dvd's and cd's used on Ebay. I tend to get most of my DVD's for under $7 each, and cd's for about $5.

That way you get the quality your system (and yourself) deserve, and you're not stealing from anybody.

Honestly the stealing (mp3's) I really couldn't care much about, but what really is nuts is that you're listening to low quality mp3's on a really great system and wondering why it doesn't sound great. That's just silly.

Ebay is the way.

Good call Spiff!! To add to that comment, Amazon is another way to get CD's for very little. I've purchased a few used (and in great condition)for $3 to $5 while giving the industry $0. In the end I know it's that artists that get the bad end of this, but that's why they tour isn't it? On a positive note, and thanks to the Web, many independent artists are doing really well these days and I GLADLY purchase their cd's. The Illustrated Band, Mutemath, and Sufjan Stevens, and Indukti are a few examples.

I've been a member of yourmusic.com for about five or six months now, and I have no complaints. No shipping charges, and all (single) CDs are $5.99.

>>wow dude. i never bashed axiom subs...and i don't remember asking how to screw axiom in anyway.

I don't think anyone mentioned Axiom subs in this post except you. Nobody has a problem with you buying used speakers -- it's a great way to get a good system and save money as long as you are careful -- what we flagged was the idea of then sending the used speakers back to Axiom and trading them in for new speakers in a different colour under their "bought-new" trade-in rules.

Do you find there are certain times of day when you are more "touchy" and defensive than normal ? If so, you might want to check what you write before posting at those times

yourmusic.com, eh? So is the only catch that you have to buy a new cd every month? That seems fairly reasonable.

Hmmm....

An added bonus is that it's not like the old Columbia or BMG clubs -- there's no minimum, and you can opt out any time you like. They might not have everything you want, but it's a great way to stock up on some essentials at a reasonable price. You might want to browse through the artist list.

It's a different BMG program, but the same BMG catalog.

Makes a lot of sense financially. I'm sure they take quite a loss on people sending back their "Featured Selection" that they have failed to opt out of. This way, like Netflix, you control the queue for your featured selection, and authorize the charges. It is really smart from a cash-flow perspective. It is also a little cheaper than the ongoing BMG sales.

They may have suspended it, but that's not the same as firing everyone involved with this stupid idea and guaranteeing it won't happen again.

Hehe... just realized that this is a really good argument for vinyl.
