Just placed my order!

Now the waiting begins.

I ordered one pair of M80's, two pairs of QS8's, and after much thought, the VP150.

For as much as I really wanted them in Boston or Mansfield Beech, I decided to go with Black due to the designs I have planned for my theater room.

As soon as I get my website squared away (updated, and redesigned) I'll post pics. That is of course after they arrive. Until then, here's the run down of my equipment.

Front Projector: Panasonic PT-AE900U
Screen: DIY 92"
HD STB: Motorola DCT6412
DVD Player: Sony ES DVP-NS3100ES
CD/SACD Player: Sony ES SCD-C2000ES
Amplifier: Outlaw Audio 2200 M-Block's (L/R Mains)
Amplifier: Outlaw Audio 2200 M-Block (Center)
Receiver: Pioneer Elite VSX-54TX
Mains: Axiom M80ti's (On The Way)
Center: Axiom VP150 (On the Way)
Surrounds: Axiom QS8 (On The Way)
Rear Surrounds: Axiom QS8 (On The Way)
Subwoofer: HSU VTF-3 MK 2
Powercenter: Belkin PureAV PF60
Remote: MX-850
Interconnects: AudioQuest
Speaker Cables: Cobalt

You are going to be amazed by how that system sounds. I have had my speakers for a bit more than a month now and I still can't believe my ears. Enjoy!

Sutter, I'm a little concerned on your choice of projector. The reason I say this is if I recall the room your planning is not huge, at least compared to mine The newer Panny's and Sanyo's are becoming longer throw type projectors. When you start getting to the shorter throw distances, lower lumens is recommended. Can you refresh my memory on your room size, projector throw to the screen, and also confirm that your 97" is width, not diagonal. Have you looked at this calculator?

Randy,

Well, I've never held a lot of stock on those Calculators. Every one I've dealt with hasn't been extremelly accurate. All I know is my screen is 92" diagonal, 80" in width. I sit about, well the couch is somewhere between 10'-11' back, but from eye to screen, it's a little over 12'. I suffer from no SDE at all, and I've got very keen eyes, even sharper ears. I consider it more of a curse then a blessing at times. lol

Be that as it may though, nobody who has been over has seen any trace of SDE either, so I haven't felt the need to return it. I've got the projector itself set up about 15'-16' back. I'd have to go downstairs and measure again to give you the exact number.

Not a problem, you should be fine. Actually, I find the PC calculator to be pretty accurate. I've been around Front Projection for some time now and it results are pretty factual.

Anyway for an 80" wide screen you should be good on your viewing distance, anything 1.3x back the screen width should be fine for the Panny 900. SDE would not be an issue with that native 720 resolution projector and smooth technology.

At 15ft your Panny would have not problems giving you a 92" diag screen, as it will be near the lower end of the projectors 2.0 zoom. My only concern was the higher 1100 ANSI lumen rating of the projector compared to its younger brothers the 700 or 500 models which had lower ratings. You'll be talking approx. 32 fL, which is pretty high.

Not sure of the gain of your DIY screen as you didn't mention the material/paint used. If your using anything beyond a 1.0 matte white material you may want to use economy bulb mode if available.

Have fun and enjoy....Randy

Not sure of the OP's room size but rather than run the lamp in low mode, go for a bigger screen if the room permits. Most people with the new LCD's are running 106" to 120" so there is a nice way to decrease light per square foot without dimming the lamp. Of course room size is the critical factor here.

I should be buying a new 720P PJ after the first of the year and I have yet to decide on a new model. Currently I like both the Panny 900 and Sanyo Z4 for LCD and the Mitsubishi HC3000 for DLP. The alien looking InFocus models are cool in appearance, but won't ship until first quarter 2006 and I may not be able to wait that long. Optoma is also about to release a new 720P DLP PJ.

At least when it comes to speakers I am Axiom all the way. That much is easy.

A bigger screen is not an option at this point. Actually, I have purchased a bigger screen, but it's going in our new house that my wife and I are in the process of building.

Untill such time that the house is complete, my current threater room is only about 16' X 11', so the 92" is about as big as I can go.

That is completely false. A significant percentage of people on this board have non-Axiom subs. Can you show me an incident where a member got pissed at someone for buying a non-Axiom sub?

OMG!!!!!! I can't believe this, I never win anything. This is freakin awesome!!!! Now I don't need to shell out any dough for a second system I'm putting in upstairs. Wow, I don't know what to say, this is great. Now I've got two systems on the way. Thank you so much Axiom and the HTS.

I won the Axiom 5.1 Epic Midi Home Theater system and am still in total Shock! This is just unreal to me. I never win anything, I mean nothing, so this is a real first for me.

This is so great because I was just fixing to put a second system in upstairs, and well, wow, now I don't have to. Now I've got two systems on the way instead of one!!!

I thought it was just weird timing that he just ordered an Axiom system and then wins one the very next day. Out of all the prizes, it was Axiom. Surreal!

Wasn't it said once that: "In the end, the Axioms you take, are equal to the Axioms you make"?

Congrats Sutter!

Thanks guys! Yeah that totally threw me for a loop too. I mean first I was shocked that I even won anything, cause I never win anything. Then I was totally blown away to learn that out of all the prizes, I just so happend to win the Axioms, and yes, I had just ordered for my main system the night before. So yeah, kind of crazy, but totally cool nonetheless.

Ok, ok, update!

Well I got em!

They showed up much earlier then I expected, which is always a good thing, well, as long as your home! lol

Played hell getting those M80's into the house. My gawd those damn things are heavy. Gonna have one peach of a time trying to get those things downstairs to my theater room. We'll see if all these years at the gym pays off.

It'll be a few days before I get everything hooked up and ready to roll. I got a lot of work to do down there, as well as other projects that my wife is making me do first. lol

But no worries, once everything is positioned, arranged, hooked up, and ready to go, I'll be sure to post my thoughts and reviews.
