A co-worker of mine would like to record the contents of a mini-disc on a CD-R. The mini-disc player is Sony MZ-R700 and comes with a PC adapter. I told him a digital-to-digital would be preferable, although I have no idea what datastream format Sony used for their mini-disk.

Can someone recommend me some good recording software?

This might not be quite what you had in mind, but it will do the job nicely. I bought the Pro edition about two months ago because I really wanted to record a web broadcast. This little tool can do just about anything, and I consider it money well spent.
