How is everyone doing?
I finally have the funds to purchase another QS8 surround speaker. That would make my setup a 6.1 HT. The thing is that I don't know if it will sound right where I'm planning on hanging it. My current QS8's are 5 feet from the floor. I'm planning on hanging the other one above a door-way that is 7 feet high. Can someone please tell me if there is going to be any type of sound problems with me putting the QS8 that high?

Only problem I can think of while looking at your pic. is that the top driver may be too close to, and firing at, the ceiling, and that may cause some interference.
Also, you may not want to place it so it's directly in line with your center up front, or it may give you a "false front" where it may sometimes appear as though the sound from your rear speaker is coming from up front.

First of all I want to comment on your room, very nice! I love your table and bar stools, where did you get them?
I don't think you will have any issues.. I have 4 Qs8's and they are mounted around 7ft up as well and they work fine. Just make sure you leave some room for the top driver to breath a little bit.

Thanks F107plus5 and sirquack for responding quickly. Sirquack thanks for the comp. I've been trying to follow your progress of your HT and its coming out very nice. I wish I had enough room to set something up like that. The table and the stools were purchased at a local store. I can't remeber the name of the store. I think the table can be bought over the internet easly, as its a laminate table with what ever design you like on it.
The QS8 will have at least five inches clearence from the ceiling. Would it be a good idea to point it down to the listening area?

Ricwilli, the QS surrounds are very forgiving speakers, so you can pretty much position them anyway you feel it best. I myself would probably point them downward towards the listening area a little bit, but that's just me.

That room is absolutely beautiful. What color and texture are those walls? I am building a room in my basement for theater only. VERY SMALL ROOM compared to what I am seeing everyone post. Anyway, I really like it and was wondering what that is. Thanks

Ralph Lauren makes the paint. It is a suede texture. I had posted pics of my HT a while back. Here is a pic of the room.

Man buddy, that's sure one heck of a nice room you've got there. It's very warm and inviting. A type of room you could just settle right into with the drink of your choice after a hard day, and enjoy a good movie or some nice tunes. Excellent job my friend.
