Guys:
I own the Samsung HL-R6168W 1080p DLP set, but I am selling it to a friend because the size is just too big, even that I got used to now, but I am moving overseas, and I will take a smaller set with me, about 50"-52".
I was wondering how many of you guys has other DLP 1080 sets, as I havent look what is new since I got mine.
I like DLP though. I not going to LCD or Plasma. Nothing wrong with them, but I like the DLP picture as it is.
Because this set I have is one of the first 61" 1080p released to the market, i am pretty sure that is newer and better stuff now. So if you have any suggestions and have seen other sets, please let me know.

Alberto, if Bernard(rat)sees this, he may comment since he recently got a 60" Sony SXRD which pleases him greatly, but let me suggest that you give strong consideration to the 50" SXRD . Hope that you'll be taking your Axioms with you and that you'll continue to post here from time-to-time.

The Axioms are going to my parents house for the time being. They are in Venezuela, and I am going to be working for a while in Lago Agrio, Ecuador (its in a jungle close to the colombian border, but that is the oilfield work... it take you around to places you didnt know it existed!!)
I will go and check out the SXRD TV's at a store. I am not too much into LCD but I have a couple of friends that got them (SXRD) and they are happy like the hippo. So better check them out to compare with DLP.
Thanks

Hi,
If you like DLP like I do, check out the new Toshiba 1080p DLP sets. They looked excellent at the recent Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. I'm not sure what screen sizes are available.

you may also want to check out Hewlett Packard's 1080p DLP offerings. The reviews that I've read have been solid in favor. HP has some nice consumer friendly features such primary cable connections that you can access through the front of the set. It is also the only set that I know of supporting native 1080p input (Sony's PlayStation 3 is the only device that I know of at this time that will output native 1080p signal, XBox 360 is capable and Microsoft says they will release a cable should the market call for it).
I wish I were with you in purchasing a new set! I've got another four years on the agreement that I have made with my wife!
Good luck!

The Sony SXRDs are LCOS not LCD. I came within a frog's hair of getting the Samsung 6168 but I just couldn't pull the trigger. I'm glad that I didn't because I really like the Sony.
I would recommend that you go to a couple of stores and look at the different models side by side. I think that you would be happy with the 50" Sony SXRD. I have not seen the new Toshiba or HP 1080Ps. I would look at those also.
I think that Bug has the 50" Sony. He may have a few specific comments for you.
I am totally satisfied with my Sony.
Good luck with the new TV and the new job.
STAY SAFE!!!

I love the tv. I hate the ears. If it wouldn't void the warranty I'd cut them off. May have to sell it and look at something else.

The ears bother you that much that you are thinking of selling it?
I'll buy it cheap

I'm thinking building it into a wall that covers up the ears.
Too much money in it to sell cheap.

Bug: repeat after me slowly, the ears are not there, the ears are not there, the ears are not there! LOL!!!
Seriously, I did read a post on the AVS Sony thread where somebody was marketing a cover for the ears. I think that there was even a link to a picture. It has been a couple of months and I don't read that thread very often any more so I don't think that I can find the post.
