Yeah Michael the prices here have gone through the roof. I bought my home 3 years ago and sold this past summer for 3 times what i paid for it. I sold it right as the market started to change. Today if you drive around town you will a ton of homes on the market just sitting. I can not see paying these prices nowadays for a home here in Bakersfield. To build the home I am building in Texas here would cost over a million.
How are the prices up there in the hill? Friends of ours built a nice home on 5 acres but are planning on selling next year to move to Colorado. I wonder how they will make out. Not sure how the market is up there.

Clarence, From what I've seen the prices up here are still increasing, I've had the same experience as you, moved up here 3 1/2 years ago and our house has tripled in value. Alot of the old timers are selling at the higher prices and getting out of state, but we still have a great influx of younger families coming in from L.A. and Orange county.
I think your friends will do pretty well, one of my neighbors is thinking of making the same move to Colorado, and getting ready to list their house for 3 1/2 times what they bought it for.

Yes although the prices here have tripled or quadrupled over the past few years there are still a ton of people coming here from down south. The inflated prices here are a great deal to them.
How are your 80's sounding?

I just used Atlas Moving Company . They were courteous and professional. My AV equipment, computers, and TV were moved undamaged.

moved twice......from california to ohio and back.....make sure you purchase some kind of warranty for the actual price of the product and not according to the weight ( you may get only upto 50 cents per pound with a maximum cap ) especially if you have lot of delicate stuff like crystal and axioms etc...we used bekins...nice company... and good luck with your move

I have been thinking about getting the 80's but my 60's sound so good to me. My HT is only 12x19 and the 80's mught be a bit too much for it. maybe later i mught get the 80's for down stairs mainly for music.

I loved the 60's also, just wanted to get be able to get more volume in my large space. But if you do get some 80's I think you will find, although they sound very similar, that the 80's have a little extra that is hard to define.

SirClyde--

Where in TX are you moving to? I came to Austin from CA almost 10 years ago now.

We used United, and had an excellent experience, but it was 10 years ago!

Take care,
Rich

Rich,

We are moving to Cedar Park just outside of Austin.
My wife is going there tomorrow to do the final walk through of our new home.
I will be moving there early April and there rest of the family will come in June.
