Does anyone do anything in particular to protect the finish on their speakers (standard finishes in especially)?
Also.. who has kept their shipping boxes? I'd like to.. but space is becoming a premium.

I have not been doing anything to protect the finish other than trying to avoid putting anything sharp or heavy on the speakers. Good question though, I have been wondering the same thing.
I have a room dedicated to shipping boxes but am really starting to question why, particularly since (a) I live within driving distance from Axiom, (b) nearly all repairs involve sending a component not the whole box, (c) when I moved the speakers up to the new house I didn't bother with the boxes.
I think the main reason for keeping the boxes is in case you want to sell the speakers -- having boxes seems to make potential buyers a lot happier. For some reason they assume that if you kept the boxes you also took care of the speakers

All I do is use a Swiffer Duster when the need arises. I had speaker covers made so it is a rare thing they even need dusting. As for the boxes, I kept mine for two years before deciding to toss them. I'm not sure why I kept them that long; I'm sure for just a few dollars they could be bought new from Axiom.

Another vote for Swifters.
The kids had tons of fun playing in/with the boxes right up to the first garbage day.
After just a few minutes of listening, I said to myself "These babies ain't goin' nowhere!"
.....but mainly,...the kids had lots of fun with the boxes

My boxes were broken down about 30 minutes after I got the speakers out of them. I figured the WAF would be higher if I didn't have 4 ginormous boxes lying around the house, and I had no intention of letting those babies go.

I still have my boxes. They will come in handy when transporting the precious axioms to and fro from college.

I also use the Swiffer, boxes were kept for about two weeks then I recycled them as I can be at the factory in less than 3 hours.

Sort of an off-topic question, but related nontheless.
While discussing our cleaning methods, do any of us allow our significant others to dust our speakers, or do we all insist on doing it ourselves?
I can only answer for myself

Yeah, who needs those prissy little Swiffers? Did you guys call Axiom to see if they had your speakers in pink?
You guys know I'm joking, of course. We are all manly-men here. Well, most of us.

Start using swiffer wipes and the next thing you know you'll only be able to use padded toilet seats. From there, you trade in your barbecue for a George Foreman Grill, your straight-blade razor for a Norelco, your wifebeater for a satin undergarment, that comforter you had in college for a down comforter with duvet, your poker night for a pedicure party, your toilet paper for a bidet.
And to think, it all started with a little rag that attracts dust.

I tried using my forearm to wipe off the speakers; but my watch kept scratching them!
Then my wife said: "Switch arms"!
Then my daughter said: "Switch Arms"!
So I switched arms that my watch was on to satisfy my wife...
...and switched arms that I wiped the speakers with to satisfy my daughter.
I scratched the speakers even more

Actually, Bridgman - it's true about the shipping! I think it costs $60 to send an M80 box to California, empty!!!

Save a swiffer from the landfills.
Use a reusable damp rag.
Vinyl is a rather easy thing to clean off.
