hi
wanted to know what fellow axiom members think about dts or dd on dvd. I am planning to purchase couple of dvds like jurassic park, etc..either on dd or dts, and was wondering whether there is any noticable difference between the two. people have said that dts is better, but i have never really compared the two, and don't know if it is worth paying double for dts.
thanks

you dont have to pay double for dts, dvds come with both. you just have to go to options or setup and pick the one you want.

Alot of DVD's will have both, I prefer DTS I think it has a much more dramatic sound.

Sometimes, you have to change the options on the DVD player AND the playback options on the DVD content.

In general, I prefer DTS because it's more dynamic. But in some cases, I've preferred the DD mix. But if I had to pay double for DTS (although you shouldn't), I would definitely stick to DD.

sonicfox,
There is something different about your post.
Ah!
Nice avatar.
I look for DTS versions on dvds. I do like the boosted emphasis in my action movies.

I've been seeking out DTS version of DVDs since 1996 or so. I love it. Movies remixed in DTS go through the whole mixing process over, but with higher bandwidth (supposidly) and more pronounced effects. I LIKE IT!
You should not have to pay more for DTS, as others have mentioned, but not every DVD comes with it. Fortunately BluRay and HD-DVD will require BOTH DD and DTS in their standards (if they ever settle on them). Either format will sound great on your Axioms, and the Axioms can definately handle the extra umph that is on the DTS track.

Yeah...at first I tried to hide that I was a girl here because I was afraid no one would take me seriously (well...maybe they still don't!). But you nice boys who know have made me feel comfortable, so I thought..."what the hell...I think I'll put up my photo now!" (at least for a little while, that is )

I lot of the new dvds have dts, but for example, the jurassic park 1 with only dd is older and newer versions with dts are double the cost of what i can get. But, i guess i'll go with the dts one given what you guys have said.
Wow, we have a girl on the forum, am i dreaming??? lol (She is even brave enough to post her picture). I think the guys should start posting their pictures too.
