Well after 2 hours I got it working good enough to start enjoying my new speakers again. But boy does the manual ever suck for this thing! I got thru the auto setup and then the DVD & radio OK. But it took me forever to figure out how to get the video/sound for the DirecTV satellite to work. And I'm still not sure if I have it right or not. Well at least it's working and now I can fine tune it as I learn what I'm doing. It's a nice receiver and I like the way it sounds so far. Thanks!

You are experiencing one of the "issues" with running your video through your audio receiver. I have posted, many times, let your audio gear do audio things and let your video gear do video things.
Most of the newer TVs, especially the HDTVs, have multiple inputs so switching should not be an issue.

Congrats on your new receiver, I know what your talking about with the Denon confusion on operation and manual. Anyway, I think I finally have my 2805 figured out.

Yeah, if you don't mind pushing 13 buttons on 5 remotes to watch a DVD...

The best $160 I've spent in a long time. Satellite, DVD, Xbox 360, CD all with the push of one button. Setup couldn't be simpler. Connect to USB port, enter your equipment part numbers online and your set.
The only tweak I had to make was setting the tivo not to power off when I switched activities or shut down the TV.

Hmmm - no one has mentioned the MX-850 yet, so I will.
Remote Central has an MX file that has every Denon receiver command (including individual + and- volume controls for each speaker and the sub). It's lke a candy store.
With the powerful macro capability, one button for virtually everything is available. You can do it all on the PC.
Check Surf Remote Control for open-box pricing. It's a great remote.
