As the subject suggests, is the Axiom bulk speaker wire suitable for in-wall installation? Also, what makes speaker wire acceptable for in-wall systems? Thanks in advance .

For the most part speaker wire is speaker wire. There is speaker wire that is rated for inwall installations, and meets building/fire codes. I used standard 12 gauge speaker wire in my basement. You might want to check with your city codes. In reality, you would be fine with regular wire, but there is always rules.

I asked this myself a few months ago, before I started wiring in my 7.1 system. Axiom's speaker cable is apparently not rated for in-wall use, but I will attest that is very nice. I ended up using BlueJeans in-wall 12G for my (just completed 2 weeks ago) installation.
I bought a little Axiom bulk cable for hooking up my fronts, and I wish I got more - it's very pliable and easy to work with.

This isn't the old "plenum rated" vs. "in-wall rated" thing again, is it ? I'm still downloading WU updates (second day of downloads now) so everything is terribly, awfully slow or I would search myself. My recollection from the last discussion was that you needed special insulation on the wire if it was going to be used either inside air ducts, or inside a section of the wall where air was flowing as part of an HVAC system. Otherwise, in wall did not need anything special. I also have a vague recollection of being proven wrong by someone who actually knew something about construction, so take this with a grain of salt
