What's the expected result of having a lot of hard surfaces in a room? I would think that you'd get a lot of reverberation which would muddy things up, particularly at the high end. I'd also think that it'd make the midrange sound fuller, at the expense of clarity (concept behind a reverb chamber).

I'd try this out by moving to a different room, but I don't have one available.

The more reflective surfaces you have, the more the sound is going to bounce around the walls, floor, ceiling, etc. and arrive at your ears at different times. This is why it is important to have treatments in your room. Carpeting/throw rugs on the floor will help a bunch. Non-reflective items on the wall will also help. Furniture is a plus.

Another option would be to treat your room with bass traps and reflection point treatments.

I still love that game! Sadly, a lot of other people do too. I couldn't get my hands on it at the arcade show this year...

Definately one of the classic arcade games of all times.
