I'm getting restless and have changed my avatar. For fun, I thought I'd put a link to my old avatar here, just to be able to reflect on all the good times I had with it. Makes it easier to move on, you know?

Since the new board format makes all of a user's old posts now show the new avatar, if I didn't retire it here, there'd be no evidence that it had ever seen the forums.

I thought others could use this thread to similarly remind us of classic avatars that have entertained us all. You know, like Ken's cat on his shoulders or Tom's kids.

So, forever retired, here is medic8r's first avatar:

I don't know, but I laughed my ass off when I saw Tigger jumping on Siegfried and Roy. Had never seen that before! That's really awesome.

You're right about that. I'm itching to get a sporty convertible, but additions to the house, student loans, etc are making me delay scratching that itch. Anyway, when I picture myself in a 'vette convertible, or a Z4, or Boxster, or somesuch, invariably my mind will drift over to people on the sidewalk muttering something about a mid-life crisis.

Of course, if I listened to Mark, I'd just imagine myself running over them and then chipping the evidence, and that'd fix that!

You'd be amazed how much better you can feel about a midlife crisis when you belittle others.

No, I've not yet acquired a midlife crisis car, but I certainly entertain the concept in idle moments. I have some process problems in that regard.

Apparently, I've been informed by my hip friends that Real Men don't drive either Boxsters or Miatas (Miati?). And there's a guy at my office that has wrecked the Z3/Z4 concept for me. Which leaves me with a Honda S2000, Pontiac Solstice (if you could find/buy one), a regrettably-discontinued Toyota MR2, something vintage and/or something that guzzles gas. I'm not a mechanic, and I've pushed enough Fiats and MG's in my life to understand the intangible costs. I mean, really, where I live (the beautiful Pacific Northwest), having a convertible anything is really a mixed blessing. You can only fantasize about driving it with the top down for about 3-4 months of the year and the rest of the time, it would just be noisy, moist and moldy. And during the Top-Down Weather, it's usually so freakin' hot and bright that you might not be comfortable anyway.

I never really cared as much about feeling/looking "cool" as I do about getting good Value. And I'm firmly on the "Happy Wife, Happy Life" plan. So, for me to indulge in a fun, sporty car, Julie would have to want the car more than she wants tile floors, air conditioning, furniture, etc.

The thing I DO have going for me is that often, when we see particularly curvaceous automobiles, my beautiful wife will rightly comment that she'd "look good in that". Then, invariably, one of the kids in the back of the minivan will snap us back to reality.

Tom, I know what you mean with the kids ruining the practicality of a 2-seater. If I did go with a convertible any time soon, I'd consider the new Volvo C70. Love the idea of a hardtop. For less money, Volkswagen is coming out with the Eos 4-seater hardtop.

My dream would be for Infiniti to make the G35 coupe into a convertible. Sadly, it seems they have no plans to do so. That would be stylish, with enough room in the back for small children! My favorite photoshopped hoax picture: link

That video (Link to Pork and Beans video) is pretty entertaining. I just saw it the other day. A lot of their videos are creative. My favorite being Keep Fishing featuring the Muppets - Good stuff.

Here's some I haven't used, but thought about it.

Some of these are really funny. If I had to pick a favorite, I'd go with Will Ferrell and more cowbell. I cannot think of either one of those bits (the original and Ferrell playing with Queens of the Stone Age) on SNL without smiling. (Plus, what gets lost a little bit in the whole thing is that the QOTSA song itself is actually great, and was perfect for the Ferrel bit.)
