If you're in the market for a new DVD Player, you might want to give these a look.

Three new models coming out. 2930CI, 3930CI and 5910CI

Of particular interest to me, is that they are using HQV video processing. The HQV chips get quite a bit of praise from the hard core video guys. http://usa.denon.com/ProductDetails/3262.asp

Some more info on the 2930. this thing should do as well, if not better than the 5910. I found it for under $700 at an authorized Denon dealer too. http://www.soundpros.com/denon_home.cfm

I think I might just have to buy this sucker…….

Dang, I paid $700 for our 2910 last year Mike ... the 2930 for under 700 bucks sounds like a real bargain. Looks real inviting but I've already committed my next upgrade expenditure to a second EP600. Just as a side note, we've been very happy with our 2910 thus far.

Two 600's for your room, daaammmmm.....Before I get there??

I'm eyeballing the new DVDO VP50.

I need some W-3's and another receiver and CD player for my jacuzzi room too.

There's just so many things I can spend money one, I can't decide which or what......

I just read a review of the DVDO VP30 and it wasn't very encouraging. Quick surprising considering it was a review in a magazine in which that piece of equipment is advertised on it's back cover each and every month. I wonder if that will continue now?!

Sounds incredible, but I cannot justify another DVD player purchase until it's a unit that's capable of playing both Blu-Ray and HD-DVD, as well as uprez standard DVD's to 1080p...oh, and it's got to be able to play all my DVD-A and SACD's too.

You all realize that "I cannot justify" translates directly to "Roger would kill me", right? I'd jump all over one of those new Denon's otherwise.

I hear ya about the HD-DVD and BlueRay stuff. Hard to buy anything right now not knowing what the new formats will be.

But….., as far as SD DVD goes, this Denon should do amazingly well. It does ‘up convert’ to 1080P and with the Reon chip, it will do it as well as the very best players on the market. The 3930 is using an even better chip (the T2), which is the same chip as in the 5910 and many high end stand alone video processors.

The VP 30 is not the processor to buy IMHO. It does great with SD Video, but not so good with SD film and it does not favor well with HD at all. The VP 50 however is totally new (not even shipping yet) and it “should” do very well with all formats including HD. It’s quite the talk at the AVS video processor board right now. All the other processors I’ve looked at that do well with SD and HD have noisy fans and the VP50 is ‘supposed’ to be very quiet, which may sound trivial, but it can be quite irritating.

Why don’t you just buy Roger something that he wants but he’s afraid you’d kill him if he bought it. You can both fight for a while and make up and then be happy. That strategy used to work for me with my X wives. Hmmmm…..maybe it didn’t work so well now that I just put that in words.

I may be able to convince him that he needs a PS3 though. Hehehehe...that would at least cover Blu-Ray.

Wives?
Reminds me of my Dad, he can't believe I've been married for 25 years to the same woman and I can't believe he's been married 9 times. I believe after 4 or 5 of 'em I'd be catching on and decide that maybe marriage just wasn't my cup of tea.

Just two Rick, and the first one was done out of self defense back in 88 when AIDS became an everyday word and I was getting along way too good with free spirited young women. I figured I’d better pick one and stay out of trouble. Don’t really have an excuse for the second one. Still trying to figure that one out……

Don’t think I’ll be doing it again any time soon, but I do know the next one will be the last one. Sarah and I get along too good to go and screw it up with a legal document. – if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right?

I think it’s pretty damn cool that you and your bride have been together that long. You don’t see many marriages that last that long anymore.
