Well, after my journey of exploring all types of options for my basement starting with JBL Studio series and having a budget of $1000 for speakers...I came to the Axiom Audio Boards and somehow convinced myself that I needed more over the period that I have been on this board.

My wife and I saved up over the holidays (including christmas bonus') and I just ordered my system from the Factory Outlet after having the system in my cart for well over 2 months.

2 x M22s for mains
2 x M3s for centre channel run in parallel (I wanted to compare the M22 and the M3 for studio use if you are all wondering why I didn't get M2s instead )
2 x QS8s for surrounds
1 x EP500 for LFE!!!!!!!!!

The Sub journey was an interesting one...I went from wanting the SVS PB10 for $650 CAD (which many said could take on the EP500 on its own on *some* boards, ya right!) to convincing myself to spend $1215 CAD on the EP500...

Wow, it just amazes me how much your budget changes the more you get into this hobby. When I first decided to turn my basement into a theatre, I was at a budget of $3500...now I am around a budget of $5500 (the axioms didn't help at all!)

Just wanted to thank you all for all the advise you gave me and various people helping this strange obsessive guy out through PMs. Just wanted to tell you that you all are awsome on this board and I can't wait to join the family!

Now I got just 5 weeks to finish the basement, I only need to install drywall on the theatre ceiling, texture the ceiling, paint, and install carpet. This is going to be one busy month!

Congrats Robb. You obviously did your homework well. I think "the more you learn, the more the budget grows" is a basic rule of this hobby. But, if you think, just because you've made your purchase, the spending is over, you have another think coming. There is this dreaded disease called UPGRADITIS! Pretty much everyone here on this board is infected, and it IS a communicable disease.

Well, I was about to order M60s..., but changed my mind to M22s because the M60s are just to big for the room and take up too much floor space.

So I am not going to fall to the influence of upgraditus until I move to a bigger room, which won't be for awhile! I am glad I decided to go with the EP500, having this sub will for sure hold off any upgraditus urgencies in the future because when mated with the M22s the system sounds very similar to M60s (but lacking a little mid range warmth so I understand, and could only be brought out with A/B testing) in my small 1800 cubic foot room.

I'm jealous! I already have M22s, a VP100, and an EP500, but my surrounds are still non-Axiom. The only reason they still exist is that I try to remain ignorant of just how much better QS4s or 8s would sound.

The best cure for jealousy is to give in to temptation.

Upgraditis is not restricted to only speakers.

Pussy.

Oh wait, I meant "Posse".

Congrats, Robb! I'm happy for you, and jealous of that EP500.

Sheesh, I thought all the stress was over? I will soon be ordering a Sanyo Z4 Projector as well with an Oppo 981 to compiment it. Hopefully I will be done for awhile, although I did pre-wire for rear surrounds that I fully plan on utilizing for when I build the riser...

So True, I had self control for about 3 months now...today I was just like, screw this, I am ordering! Man, this wait better go by quickly, I don't know how I can last 5 weeks! Hopefully the order will come faster than that because of the recently past christmas season they must have a higher than average factory outlet speakers...

Well you see, I was torn between the M60s and the M22s, because I really wanted to try the M22s as studio monitors to test them out, as well as the M3s...And if I ordered M60s I would have no M22s...so you see, its all in the master plan.

Regarding the EP500 and the whole system...I am in a little bit of shock that I just dropped $2500 just now...its one of my biggest purchases I have made (excluding the House, the Car, and the drum kit)...

When I upgrade again I will be going all out real wood rosewood with the high gloss and M80s! (this is, of course, if the boss allows it, but she is a sucker for rosewood)

Great setup Robb(I was indeed wondering why you didn't get M2s instead), now just the wait. Speaking of wondering, in case you are puzzled by the fact that I've had my M22s for almost five years now and am so impressed by their excellence that I have no urge to replace them, I had upgraditis as a child and apparently developed an immunity. Of course, I've had the EP500 for a couple weeks now, and maybe one or two EP600s.....
