Looking at a 7.1 setup - back 2 speakers on back wall, no problem. Left and Right surrounds would be in the middle of a door on either side if placed in the "proper" position. What about mounting the speakers with the back-flat on the ceiling over the listening area? I could hang the L/R surrounds from ceiling brackets, but would hang down a considerable amount in a walking path and would also be the first thing seen when walking into the room - just trying to get a cleaner looking install.
BTW- Update on previous bookshelf question that I querried... I got the WAF in line and am planning on a M60 7.1, maybe 7.2 system.
Thanks for your help,
Scott

Personally, I would not mount them facing down. When you say "proper" position, what are you referring to? The q's are very forgiving and can be mounted to the front/rear of an imaginary line from the listener upto 20degrees. You also want them 2-5 feet above your ears, aiming at you from a side position. Can you provide a drawing or picture to help us..You also want your left/right sides and left/right rears at the same height. Can you mount them up high on the wall aiming downward?

Scott, keep in mind that the side surround material is supposed to come primarily from the sides(figures), not above. So, if it's absolutely necessary for you to mount the side QS8s flat against the ceiling, don't position them "over the listening area", but rather, spread them out to the sides as far as possible, just a few inches from the side walls.

If there is a door there must be a wall, could you not mount them on the wall by the door? The QS's are very forgiving as far as placement goes, an extra foot or 2 forward or backward won't matter.

There are walls, but I was worried about the dynamics of the room - there is a closet in the back left of the room that ought to add some complexity to how the sound waves bounce. Keep in mind this room is a clean slate right now, speaker wires hanging from ceiling are from previous 5.1 prologic surrounds.

Rear speaker will go near window. Left surround could go just left of door, maybe over? Second EP500 would go where the silver thing is (paper shredder - note Axiom beechwood w/ light tan grill sample)

If the QS's are that forgiving, then I should have no trouble.

So what did I do wrong with the image links???

I would say for sure to put your QS8 surround to the left of that door entering the room (above the brown fold up chair in the picture). It will be slightly behind your listening position but it will get some nice reflections off that closet door into the room. I would also suggest to put the other surround directly across the room from that surround (I am sure you would have figured this one out )

After seeing the room, I don't think you will have any issues. The hardest part will be wiring an already finished room. If you would have used "img" instead of "image" it would have worked..

Shawn, thanks for getting pics posted. I followed the markup format in the FAQ section and didn't see a note to switch to 'img'.
Wiring won't be a problem, I have full attic access and will be above the fire breaks.
Thanks again to all for your assistance.
