Well it is time pull the trigger on the system: M80x2/150/500/QS8x2. My question concerns the rear surrounds. I posted here yesterday ( http://www.axiomaudio.com/boards/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=173262&an=0&page=0#Post173262 ) so you can read a little about the room. Essentially it is a 13x30 with 11.5 ft ceilings open kitchen/LR type layout in an apartment building. The TV and gear will be against one 13' wall, the listening position will be ~10 feet back from there, and I'll have quite a bit of leeway in positionnig the side QS8s. For the rears, though, they will have to go on top of the kitchen cabinets on the opposite 13' wall, ~20' behind the sofa and the full 30' away from the fronts. They will be ~9 feet off the ground. Should I get 4 QS8s and build a mounting thing for the rears so that they can stick over the edge of the cabinet properly (and thus allow the bottom speaker to work properly) or get 22s and stick them up top? Any thoughts, anyone? Can't wait to order. My soon to be neighbors have no idea what's coming...... Appreciate everyone's time and input.

Jess, welcome. Mark makes a good suggestion about a closer ceiling mount of QS8s, which several members use. If you do have the back surrounds that far back, the dispersion of the M22s would be wide enough at that distance to make for a good surround effect and would be a fine choice.

Make sure your receiver can compensate the time delay for your rears since they are that far back.

I've also thought about using ceiling mounts on a qs8 to mount under the countertop that divides the LR and the kitchen and functions as a bar. It would be ~10' behind the sofa and about 4' off the floor.

That should work well, Jess, although a slightly higher position is usually suggested. If they're going to be about 10' behind the listening position they should also be separated about 10'.
