I read a few posts here some time back about users wanting to isolate their subs from the floor.

Today I finally got around to cutting up my EP600 shipping carton for recycling. On the bottom of the carton, I discovered the insert shown below. Your sub cartons may have contained something similar. If so, it might make a great isolator for those of you that need it. I bet you can spray it any color you want or cover it with some fabric.

But how will you ship it back when you want to upgrade to tha 600... Is it really nessary to isolate a sub that sits on a carpeted cement floor in a basement? Just wondering what advantage there would be?

I agree, Mojo if you ever had to send it back for whatever reason, it might be difficult now. I flattened all my 80's, vp150, and qs8 boxes and put them inside of my 600 box in the back storage room...

Most likely Axiom would just send you a new amp or driver or whatever, you would never send the sub back unless you use the "upgrade" program..

I still have the M80 boxes, but only because I'm far too lazy to break them down. The M50 boxes went the second I got the speakers.

Avdude,

In your case and mine, our subs sit on carpeted floor on concrete. I don't believe there is any need to isolate at all. I use the carpet spikes and I drove them all the way below my carpet and under-lay so that they contact the concrete. It's nice and solid.

But others live in apartments with hardwood and were wondering how to isolate. That's how I came up with the idea. I don't know how well it will work but it doesn't cost anything to try it.

You can still use this insert without damaging the carton. In my case, I don't have the room for storage. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that I'll never have to send any of this stuff back. BTW, I have nothing to upgrade to . And if we ever have to move, the speaker system is the least of my worries .

Nothing to upgrade to until the new speaker that they can't talk about comes out.

Oh, you mean the M160. I think someone here owns one. It's an M80 with another inverted M80 on top .

Duct taped together?

If they are making another speaker, what do you think we'll see? Larger woofers? Super tweeters? An entirely new line that moves away from conventional box designs?

I was wrong. It's actually an M210 .

I don't know what the new speaker may be (or if they are even working on a new speaker). But if they are, it would be really useful to market an affordable speaker that is not influenced by its environment.

I certainly wouldn't be working on a new speaker for home use though if I was Axiom. There are so many other adjacent markets to be tapped.

One of the interviews that someone linked to recently had mention of a new speaker that couldn't be talked about yet, unless I invented that in my head.

Hmm, I wonder what market they'd want to get into. I do like them branching out with the outdoor speakers and the computer speakers. Are you thinking car audio?
