Well, I know a little bit! They are shipping and we've had enthusiastic customer response to them, especially to the tiny size. As suspected, nearly half of the subwoofers sold have been in custom finishes, which we had thought would be the case since it is more of a niche product aimed at audiophiles with décor restraints.
As well, the product is actually shipping in a v2 configuration. After doing further testing on the product, Ian determined that it would be better without the port, and he made numerous changes to the DSP chip in order to facilitate the same specifications without the port. We redesigned the grille to cover the whole faceplate after that change was made.
I have shipped two review samples, and I'll keep you posted on the results of those reviews.

No,no! I suppose that I should speculate though, that this apparently means that BigJohn won't be seriously considering the EP400v2.

True, but at least that segment of the ported speaker market is, hopefully, only a niche and will not significantly affect Axiom's ability to sell EP400s.

Great job on that. I'd be an audio sailor, going from port to port.

John, I expect that your comment about a niche market is correct, but I wonder if Ian took this fully into consideration when deciding to make the design change.
If BigJohn does still do a little lurking, this(good show, Mark)should bring him out if anything can.

Now, THAT'S funny..............is MY line I too, miss the now legendary, Big John. I can only hope, that my part in exposing his pink grilles...........didn't contribute to his departure.

Nope...from what I remember, his work locked down his Web access and so is not able to get to the forum from work anymore... Not sure if has time on the weekends...I know he has at least one child and possibly a new one too... Will have to shoot him an email and find out out the poop (literally). I do not think the pink grilles was the culprit...I think it had something to do with his wife and a pair of underwear? WhatFurrer

I miss Juan Grande.
I think he has two boys (about 9 and 2, maybe?) That should keep him busy.

Sigh, I miss John too.
I tried poking my naked cones and I just couldn't get into it. John - the man had a PASSION for it. He took it to an art form.
BTW Mark - nice picture. Where did you get it?

I see that the port is gone, the rubber surround is beefier and the response goes up to 150Hz. I bet it sounds "tight".

Well, hopefully a more substantial review will be coming soon. 1/4 of the article appears to be detailing the equipment he used with it...
