I was making some new connections last night when I accidentally knocked over one of my M22i's. After cursing quite loudly, I set it back up and tried to determine the damage. So far the only physical damage I see is the posts broke off the grill and one corner is banged in a little. It sounds OK and nothing is rattling inside. Is there anything else I should check to make sure I only have cosmetic damage. It fell from a 20" stand. Am I a jerk or what?

Ouch! I totally understand how you must be feeling right now. Ken (kcarlile) was installing some new tweeters in a pair of bookshelf speakers he had while we were roommates in college and accidentally poked a hole in one with a screwdriver. He didn't feel too smart right then...
Anyway, I think as long as the speaker doesn't rattle when you shake it and seem to play fine, then I wouldn't worry about it. It's good to know the M22tis are that solidly built. Right now, mine are about the same height as yours and there will soon be a little pair of adventurous hands in the house.

Yes, klutz and a bunch of other words I called myself that I can't print here.

I sure hope you are right about the speaker and it does sound fine, so I guess it's better than the screwdriver thing. As for the adventurous hands in the house, I am sure I have knocked over and dropped far more things than my two kids ever did, but the M22's are a bit unstable on stands due to their height I think.

If your speaker falls over, and the room is an anechoic chamber, will anyone hear your screams ???

I knocked one of my Merak MB6 bookshelves off a 32" stand and it was fine. It got alittle dent on one corner, but besides that it was perfect. And merak speakers are the lower line produced by Colquhoun Audio Laboratories.. so I think your M22 should be fine.

Good one, Mikey. Maybe we should ask an NRC technician what happens when he does that.

If said chamber is also sound-proof, then no.

You know where they came up with the idea for these rooms don't ya ?? Think about it.. Where else do we find small little rooms, with padding all over the walls ? Hmmmmm ??
And who else would be more likely to go nutty than the poor sound engineer running the playback for the umpteenth time ? hahah.. One thing lead to another, and he got thrown into the perfect room !
In time they modified the white padding, and went with fancy little wedge shapped foam.. (I'm not positive on this, but I would bet some science type dude had a hand in that !?)
And that's the truth.. Would I lie ??
LFE ! The rest is just details..
