hey all,
I can't decide whether I want to get the M3's or M22's. Need your help! Im setting up a 2 channel system with my Harman Kardon 340 and HSU STF-2 (havent ordered the sub yet). Our college apartment living room is 15'x 16' but there is an open kitchen area and dining area adjacent that measures 15'x9.
Will the M3's be loug enough to fill this space at reference levels without loss in sound quality (at least the living half)?
I've heard some good things about both speakers but that M22s have more detail while M3s are more laid back. However ive also heard that the M3s sound less neutral and "boring" which leads me to think that I should save $150 and get M3's.
Which speaker has better bass (would I even need to get the sub? if yes then ignore this factor)...which goes louder...better soundstage....more enjoyable overall...etc?
Baically, is it worth going up to the M22s?

Im really having trouble deciding...

Thanks so much! Input is really appreciated.

From what I've read on these boards, it is my impression that listeners enjoy the M3s more than the M22s.

The M22s are marginally more sensitive according to the specs so they will play louder with the same input signal.

Regardless of what speaker you end up purchasing, you should definitely get a sub. You will miss much of the audio and/or video experience without one.

Good luck.

I have a pair of M3s and had a pair of M22s. I now have the M60s. The M3s are great speakers but I have never enjoyed the sound of any speaker any more than I did the 22s. I sold them only because I wanted the 60s for a larger room. You put a small sub with the 22s and you will have an awesome system. You won't go wrong with the 3s either. You'll just have a fuller sound with the 22s.

I'm thinking the same, that the real drawback of the 22's is the lack of bass. If you are going with a sub and the 22's, they are great.(I have M22's with an STF-3).

If you are not using a sub the M3's will probably suit you better.
