Hi everyone,
Is anyone using M3 or M22 as a center channel instead of VP150? I have space for both under my tv. I am leaning towards M80s as Fronts and M3 or M22 as center. M3/M22s go as low as 60hz vs 85 hz for VP150 and are cheaper than VP150. Is this a good idea ?

Sure sst, some use a vertical center speaker such as the M2, M3 or M22 because of the generally wider and smoother horizontal dispersion(as shown by studies which have been cited here)than the horizontal MTM arrangement which is frequently employed as a center speaker. It's been said that the TMMMT arrangement of the VP150 is significantly better than the MTM. In any case, a small vertical speaker having a response as similar as possible to the mains above 80Hz or so is a good choice. If you do have room for the M22 it would be preferable since it would match the M80s above the low bass a bit more closely. Either by way of its height or by tilting it back slightly, the tweeter of the center speaker should point at the listener's ears.

sst, I use 2 M2s wired in parallel, which gives one more tweeter than an M22. I love the sound, it is very crisp and clean! This also offers more flexibility if you want to put one centre above the screen, and one below...

If using 2 center channels, such as 2 m2's, how is this done? My amp only has one connection point for the center channel. Is there some type of splitter that will work for this? just curious.

Connect them in parallel like Robb said by connecting the positive from one to the positive of the other and ditto for the negatives. Then connect to the amp like usual. If your amp has a problem driving this load, then you'll have to resort to connecting them in series and turning up the center channel volume.
By the way, my VP150 starts to drop off at 75Hz in my room.

Like mojo said. How I am working mine is I have one of the centre channels hooked up to the receiver centre channel output with bare wire, and the other one to the same set of binding posts on the receiver with banana plugs.

That makes sense. However, the m2's or m3's won't play as loud as the vp150, not as sensitive and cant handle as much power. so, i guess that's something to consider.

I use twin M22's. No complaints and for your reference, I have to lower there output 4 db's to match the M80 R/L.

M3s make great centers. They match the 80s.
I use 2. One above and one below the tv in parallel.
I own 3 pairs of M3s. Great speakers.

If 2 M3s are connected in parallel. Each M3 is an 8 ohm speaker. So the combined load in parallel will be 4 ohms.
Is this correct ?

I have used M3s as centres too, in parallel, and be warned that they are pretty big, quite bigger than the M2 speaker...if size doesn't matter then the M3 speaker would be fine I think...
