Anyone had a chance to hear these yet? The 3000 seems to be the best bang for buck with component video upconversion and 150watts x 7.

I hope that Sony has gotten their act together to make their receivers perform well with respect to power output with 5-7 channels driven.

Check out http://www.agoraquest.com/forum.php if you are not familiar, which is where the Sony fans hang out. Lots-O-Buzz about the new ES's. Also folks want them in black...

I really like the fact the 9000 has DVI output. Too bad it's around $4500.00.

No, I am not myself. But I am seriously considering a new receiver soon, even the 995 is very attractive for it's price. The 3000 seems to be about equal to the Denon 3803.

Talking about the flagship, the Yamaha DSP-Z9 seems to be a heck of an impressive receiver...!

I'm a fan of the Elite receivers, but I'm not sure Pioneer can beat this one in the upcoming renewal of the 49TXi, scheduled in December-January.

sushi,

I believe you've just found my next receiver. That thing is amazing! I wonder how long I have to wait to find it on Audiogon for around $500....

Yeah Masa, it looks great, but the literature doesn't mention the brightness that all true audiophiles know about, despite the frequency response being flat +/- .00001db from 20-20Khz.

More seriously, I'd be severely tempted if as a matter of principle(i.e. I'm cheap)I wouldn't pay that much. Apparently the YPAO is actually parametric(at least as to the "25 points" mentioned)rather than graphic. It'll be interesting to see if the much lower priced 2400 and 1400 coming out next week have similar parametric capability.

Enjoy the music, not the equipment.

Yup, John, I too look forward to seeing the 1400/2400 offline.

Retail is about $4500. Much too rich for me. I'd rather have a great FP setup for that kind of money.

Yup, way too much for me, too. LOL

For US$4500, you can get the Maggie 3.6Rs with a nice 2-channel power amp.

That Yamaha sure looks nice with tons of features but I can't believe it doesn't have DVI out for that kind of money and video processing. It should upgrade everything to DVI. That's one thing the Sony has over the Yamaha.

Agreed, Dan. A strange omission indeed...
