Is there a button or function somewhere within the "oh so lovely" Denon remote that simply outputs the current status onto the screen? (i.e. audio / video source information).

I've noticed that when I press a given source key (DVD, Sat, etc.) to change the source, there is a pop up showing video source as well as the audio format being played. However, to do this, both the audio and video drop out as the Denon tries to switch to that source. When it comes back up, it shows me exactly what I want to see... but only after the audio and video drop out.

I know there is also an option within the GUI that allows you to go to "audio input signal" and see the details on what is playing, but that's not a single button press either...

Am I asking for the impossible or missing the obvious?

My 2805 does the same thing.

I just press display on my tv remote to see the resolution.

I think the front panel of the denon shows the sound format/ect.

YOu could try to program a set of buttons into the [1] button on the backlit part of the remote. you could maybe program it to open up the gui and go to that part of menu... not sure if it would work that way or not.

I have the denon remote programmed to turn on my tv, turn on my denon, turn on my cable box, switch the denon to dvr and open up the cable guide all with one button. I have another button to do all of that in reverse when shutting down.

I would like to program the remote to turn on my xbox 360 and all of the above but I don't have an xbox 360 remote to use for the denon to learn the 'on' command, and I don't know if I can do that with the 360 anyway.

Well, thanks for confirming... with the PS3 you can bring up a status menu too to see information about the signal, so I guess I'll just get used to a workaround. Minor annoyance... I'll live.

There may be away, or at least you think there should be a way, to do that with one button...

That's why I asked... I'm hoping someone here has figured it out... I downloaded the pre-programmed codes from Universal Remote for the 3808 and there is a "status" code in the list, but unfortunately it doesn't do anything...
