Alrighty then. I'm looking at the following setup for a theatre that is 16(l)x13(w).

Fronts:W22
Center:W150
Rears: Need Help

For the rears I was thinking about the QS8v2 and hanging them from the ceiling. My room is open to the one side so they'd have to go on the ceiling OR can I put them directly behind the couche the same width apart as the front? Does this make sense? I can also get W3's and place those directly behind....Maybe I can post a picture if I have it.....I'm running a 10 inch PSB subwoofer...

Welcome. Oh, I have to be the first to say it, I love the name of your "fun room" the "Wii Room"...

Anyway, the QS8's are amazing for home theater, however people that listen primarily to multi-channel music seem to like the direct radiating speakers (like the W3). If you are using this mainly as a HT like noted in the picture, then the QS8 model is the way to go. It won't disappoint you! I would vote for ceiling mounting them if possible so that you can get the ideal placement where you like them. You will most likely do just fine with a 5.1 setup, as most people agree that unless you have a larger room (and even then it isn't always noticeable) 7.1 isn't a big benefit.

Funk, welcome. Since the room is 16' long, the back of the couch is roughly 3' from the partition behind it. If that's actually a full wall rather than some type of counter it would be suitable to mount the QS8s on it about 6' up. The right side surround would be out wide enough(at least for a listener in the middle of the couch)if that section that extends at about a 45 degree angle can be used for mounting.

Enjoy the music, not the equipment.

I also would go for the QS8's ceiling mounted for optimum placement but if it is not possible nor desired, then mounting them on the back wall would work as well, the Q's are very forgiving and will fill the back of a room up with sounds very easily.

Thanks for the quick responses - I had a look and I think the ceiling mount would be great - I do have a drop of 12 inches cause of the pipes - how far off the ceiling do I go? I suppose the bracket on the website is the one to go with. Instead of hanging from the bulkhead I think I'll keep it near the ceiling, but close to the bulkhead....I'm thinking to the left and rear of the pot light - the other potlight not shown is in front of the angle wall.....mudder and taper comes monday....wires are in the wall behind and in the ceiling - easy access to hang the QS8's.....oh, I also agree that a 5.1 is plenty for the room but just in case I wired for 7.1.

I went 6.1 due to an unconventional corner layout and the rear center helped fill in the hole I had between the left and right surround.

The Axiom ceiling mounts will position the speaker the required amount.

I am thinking, looking at your pic, that mounting the surrounds to the side wall and then to the angled wall would also work very well and save a few bucks on the mounts. The QS's come with flush mounts so maybe try them out that way and if you don't like the sound then get the ceiling mounts.

I also agree with the ceiling mounting option for your side surrounds.

Good luck!
