Very interesting, Charles. Apparently the 105dB level at 6Hz didn't cause an appearance of the "brown note" syndrome among those present at the recording session. It'll also be interesting to see how the point Dr. Rubinson raised at the end will be answered.

Yeah, pretty cool video. I know it's kind of backwards, but I'm just thinking about how he's wasting his talent and should be playing video games with that coordination. Ha ha.

I'll be interested to see reviews of the recording when it's released. My system will never be able to reproduce the full range, but still, seems like fun.

I don't get the theory. Does the sub's "Speaker" spin like a fan? And what, does that flexibility give it a better lower frequency response. I guess I am dumb.

And yes, the organist was pretty damned amazing. He was like that octopus bartender in Roger Rabbit.

yeah, I wonder how it works too... Kinda of makes sense to use a fan since low frequencies 'moves' a lot of air.
My guess is that the fan blades vibrates somehow or the fan is mounted on a regular woofer piston... dunno gotta check the website.

Here's an excerpt of how it works from his website:

A motor controller and electric motor rotate a set of blades at a constant speed. The TRW-17 Rotary Woofer pitch mechanism uses a conventional voice coil and magnet assembly. This is connected to your amplifier to pitch blades in proportion to the applied audio signal. As the blades pitch while rotating a pressure wave is generated, the degree of pitch controls the amplitude of the pressure wave. Air is allowed to transition through the blades. Thus oscillating the pitch of the blades creates sound while they are rotating .

Sounds all a bit "hocus pocus" to me. Besides, why do I need 3Hz sound coming from my speakers again? The room already shakes enough as it is at 20Hz
