I would say for a receiver in that price range look into Onkyo. Yamaha's have ahd issues with power transformers and output.

well, i CAN comment on the JBL's... I used to have them. Still do. theyre sitting in my closet. And all i can say is that i wouldnt buy them again. Sure they arent BAD speakers, but there are better ones out there thats for sure. Compared to my axioms the jbls were boomy, slow, no highs at all midrange sounds weird. they just sound bad compared to the axioms. Before i bought my axioms i had the jbls for i think only about a year before i really didnt like them anymore, when i would sit down and listen to music and give up after 10 minutes because i would just be frustrated with the way it sounded. When i first got them i thought they were the best speakers ever. and that id have them for many years. Wrong. Now after being replaced by the axioms they reside in my closet waiting for the day in which they will be sold to their next victim. Not to mention that the build quality on them is pretty medeocre. I had to glue one of the panels back into place on one of them because it was starting to rattle... Actually i glued a whole bunch of reinforing wood in both of them.

Long story short,

dont buy the JBL's. If you could get the JBL's or the M22 Id get the M22.

Yeah, I had the same question to vfreemanoaotca... Were you talking about relatively new models from Yamaha???
