I have an EP175 subwoofer that has a hard time waking up and turning on from "standby" mode. Sometimes when playing DVDs or CDs even with a lot of bass, it just won't turn on and I have to scroll through several menus on my preamp to send the test tone to it to get it to turn on. I've had this problem with it connected to two different preamps. I don't think the volume on the sub or on the preamp, or the crossover on either, makes any difference.

Any ideas?

Hey rudybeet, I have faced a similar issue with a Pro Audio sub I had some time ago. At low volumes on my AVR the sub wont wake up until I crianked the volume (on AVR) up a bit. Turning volume up on the sub all the way didint help. I ended up increasing the sub level in my AVR byt 3dB and that helped. Have you tried doing this. If you are selecting crossover through your amp, turn it up all the way on your sub.

I had the same problem with my Outlaw sub a few years ago. You need to go into the speaker setup in the receiver and adjust the gain higher. Hopefully you currently have it set at 0 or lower. You can adjust it up to around +5 (if +10 is as high as it will go). If you go higher than say 5 out of 10 then you will start introducing distortion into the sub. But, I set mine to around +3 or +4 and it took care of the problem. Then just dial the volume down at the sub to balance things back out at the end. If this doesn't take care of the problem then I would contact Axiom.

I did mess with the gain on the preamp a bit, and I'm not sure I came to any conclusions. It goes up to +12, so I may try really cranking it to see what happens.

Normally around a 0dB setting for the sub level should be enough to wake up the sub...is there an option on the back of the sub to just leave it on all the time? My 350's have this option.

Unfortunately, no, it doesn't have an "always on" switch.
