Hello all,
Just joined the Axiom family! Bought M22s/VP-150/QS8s; should make for quite a rig paired with an SVS PB2+.
What height stands work best with M22s? I know as a general rule, the tweets should end up at ear height, relative to your listening position.
But as always, YMMV, etc.
I will probably be building my own. What height is a good "all-purpose" height?

Welcome, Michael. On this one the mileage shouldn't really vary much from ear level, so 16-18" should be about right. I've noticed on my M22s that the above axis response is slightly better than below axis(on the tweeters), so, if anything go a bit low with the stands.

So that's why my M22s seem inferior when I wake up from a drunken stupor on my living room floor!

You got it, Peter. There's a scientific explanation for almost everything.

Thanks, JohnK.
I'll be going with the standard PVC pipe w/threaded rod inside type stands. Planning on filling them with sand too.
Side note: do you guys have spikes or foam pads b/t the speaker and the stand? I've always had towers; they just sit on the floor. Most of the stands I see for bookshelves have spikes or pads that isolate the speaker from the stand.

I too enjoyed my M22's up a bit higher. I bought the stands that Axiom recommended for the M22's but ended up using a pair that were closer to 36" high. They sounded MUCH better lifted up higher. (IMHO)

I use the plastic rubber pads that came with the VP150 stuck on the top plate of my center channel stand. They prevent any rattles, and make sure the VP150 is not easily shifted on the stand.

Excellent. Thanks much. I'm not too sure if short (18") stands will work for me.
Aside from them possibly being too short for my listening postion, shorties would have the M22's tweets way out of line with the VP-150s.
Due to the design of my current entertainment center, I can only put the center channel on top of the unit, not under the TV. The center channel sits at about 4-4 1/2 feet high.
I have time to decide though, and that's a good thing.

I was between 18 and 24 and went with the 24's to get them closer to the VP150. Worked out pretty well for me.

Thanks, Zarak. I've been doing some "measuring" and am leaning towards a 24" stand.
Not so much to get the tweets at ear level, but to more closely match the height of the M22's with the height of the VP-150.
I've also been mulling over getting a new cabinet for the TV...just a stand for the TV...thinking of making Flexies, actually. We'll see what happens.
