I find it hard to beleive that even Monster has a 4 Meter cable for that much, I think they sold her a much longer cable than 4M they mention, thus they have put a bit of a spin on it; although their message is sound.

What a load of crap. Anyone who pay more than $1 per foot for an HDMI cable is a fool! (unless you need a long run, and then a more expensive cable MIGHT be a good idea)

I find it hard to beleive that even Monster has a 4 Meter cable for that much Monster HDMII saw a different display of Monster speaker cable this past week at a Circuit City. Like the old 'light bulb" demo, this one had two spools of wire...probably each 75~100'. The one on the left looked like 22 or even 24 gauge, and the massive spool on the right was monster 12 or 14 gauge. In between was a switch to choose which spool was "in line". Where this display differed was that it had two Boston Acoustic speakers mounted on it with instructions to "hear the difference" between Monster Speaker Wire and ordinary wire. The display was not working, but I wouldn't be surprised if you could hear a difference. Of course, it's apples-to-oranges in that the two spools are vastly different gauges. What isn't obvious to most people who don't understand these things is that a generic brand of "ordinary speaker wire" (but of a gauge suitable for the length) will sound exactly the same for 1/20th the price. I really, really hate Monster and for the life of me can't believe someone doesn't take them down with a truth-in-advertising suit. I want to bring a big marker to the store and deface the display. I want to stand outside the store and hand out educational material to consumers. They rip off people who trust the store clerk and don't know better....especially this time of year when people buy "outside their expertise" for gifts. They represent the worst kind of corporate greed, and they've been doing it for years. Their deceptive marketing rips people off for hundreds of dollars at a time, and they do it in the open in well-lit stores and with a smile. More than Enron. More than unscrupulous home loan officers. I really f***ing hate them.

I really f***ing hate them. I'm with you. The entire audio industry could use a shakeup, and Monster represents the worst of it.

They rip off people who trust the store clerk and don't know better.... I wonder how many of the store clerks even know better. I'm guessing most believe the drivel they are fed by Monster and happily repeat it to customers in an attempt to sell the customer a better experience. That doesn't excuse Monster at all, but at least it's a few less people for Mark to be f***ing mad at. Jason

LOL...
I'm sure there's a good split between those that are ignorant because THEY were marketed to.... and those that like the incentives and commissions...

I did find 2 Monster cables on futureshop's website for $259 one was 4M the other was 6M. What a rip off. I had just never seen them in store before.
SO how do you get the word out ot the masses about monoprice and their great products?

Monster sucks Monstrously!
I came up with a pretty decent culture jam for the name Monster-Monstrosity (okay, kind a week, but it's the best I could come up with)

Hell, that is a deal: Transparent Opus speaker wire, 25 feet, cost $43,000. So two meeters of Transparent HDMI for $325 is a steal...right? That makes the Monster HDMI wire (since it is all the same) a bargin at $200+. Sorry, I had the Kool-Aid for breakfast today. But enjoy the price sheet: http://transparentcable.com/resources/Retail_Pricelist_2007.pdf

Those cables must have stepped up from snake oil to something like flax oil or herring oil, keeping the system in good health.

No snake oil here, this is Baby Oil my friend. Of course, I mean the oil extruded from a baby's rear! But with carbon fiber, anything sells, even baby oil. They keep the snake oil for the $300 speaker cables I bought from Transparent.

Did you get a kiss before you got screwed? Kinda, I got a good deal on the B&W sub I wanted as part of the package. But yes, generally screwed without dinner and a movie. They sound great though! And I never have to worry if that is the weak link in my system. (Come on, let me hold on to some of the warm fuzzy feeling I paid for. )
