Hello
Just received a pair of QS8s and full metal brackets. Figured I'd see if the FBBs work better than the standard "T" brackets. Can't find any T brackets with the speakers. Did you all receive any mounting brackets with your QS8s?

Yes, the standard T-brackets came with my QS8's in the same box. That's stange they were not sent with yours. Call Axiom.

Given the choice between the FMB and the standard "T" brackets, I'd use the "T" bracket in a heartbeat. More secure, and much easier to install.

I agree with Craig. In the vast majority of cases, you have absolutely no need to "tilt" the wall-mounted QS surrounds vertically or horizontally. They are designed to be flat-mounted on the wall, and for this purpose the standard T brackets will do much better.

I got some QS8's from the FO recently. They came with the T brackets.

BUT - the brackets are designed to impossibly close tolerances, and if the corresponding brackets on the speakers are mismounted by even a fraction of an inch or a degree or two, they do not work at all. I grabbed a file and made the necessary modifications in 15 minutes or so, but was a little frustrated. The fine folks at Axiom said they are looking at a redesign of that part.

I would agree that the FMB is functional overkill and aesthetically worse than flush-mounting.

To expand on what Tom said, using the T-brackets gets even more dicey if you have to use wall anchors, since the wall anchors have to go in before actually mounting the bracket. So, you have to do your best to get the anchors lined up exactly with the T-bracket for when you screw the bracket into the wall. I came close to screwing this up, but thankfully, it worked.

D'oh! My bad. I found the T-brackets in the bottom of the box under the packing materials. Disaster if off by a fraction of inch. I know my next problem. I'm going to try the T brackets. Got all excited when I realized that there's an attic over the bedroom (crawly space), so I can run speaker wires up there, drill some holes and drop them down to the QS8s.

Of course, I always remember the gas man in Mission Viejo who opened up the sliding panel to a crawl space, stuck his head up with a flash light to see what was going on, and got bitten in the FACE by a rattle snake. I think I'll send up Mr. Hampster first. Just kidding. True story though.

The only thing you have to worry about biting you in a dark attick is a grue.
