Done some work yesterday, here are the results 80$CDN later The screen area is just the wall painted white. I actually did a test with a real projector screen and the image quality was better when I was projecting on my wall. Around the frame we put a leather like tapestry and the frame is in MDF (don't know if it's the same acronym in english). Before before After after 1 after 2 New amp picture

Looks good! And is less than 10% of the cost of the screen I have. Good job!

What a huge difference, and for the better. I really like the look of a darker accent front wall like what you did, we are in the process of installing the same trim work as you used around the screen ... Luc, did you paint the trim or is it stained? We're trying to find a stain or paint to match the Boston Cherry speakers, without much luck so far.
Good deal, looks great!

Good deal, looks great! the MDF used for the frame comes in white so we only used brown paint on it. Have a look at my doors: My doors The first shot is a real stained wooden door, the other is a white MDF door (the wooden version was too expansive for my taste). I painted it and used the same stain that I used on my wooden doors. Is you frame in wood or MDF? the trick with MDF (or any non-wood product) is to change the color of the primer. Instead of using a white primer, you use a beige primer (buy a white primer and have them colorize it at the store). Apply the primer and then use any wood staining product (with a cloth, not a brush).

We're using unfinished oak for the trim Luc, was looking for a stain to match the Boston Cherry speakers but since my last post I believe I may have found the right color stain. I stained a small piece of trim with Olympic 'Merlot' stain and then after it dried applied a top coat of Minwax 'Red Mahogany' stain ... looks like it matches the speakers pretty darn close.

I don't have any speakers in boston cherry but it's true that red mahogany does seem close enough. Don't forget to post pictures later on! :-)
