Watched Disney's 'Earth To Echo' on Blu Ray last night.
Quite fun & most enjoyable we thought.
The long & protracted LFE near the end was quite incredible, even at -15 Db. Our EP-800s do that stuff so well & effortlessly...

Interstellar
I liked it. There are some problems with the story because it's Christopher Nolan, and he likes to bite off more than he can chew, but there were also the pieces of it that had a lot of thought put into them, and it's hard to argue with some of the visuals. I'm sure one of the scenes will make for a fun subwoofer test, even if we have plenty of those in movies these days.
Big Hero 6
Between this and Interstellar, there are some fun robots in movies right now, albeit in different ways. A lot of the characters aren't developed as well as they could be, but the emotional core of the story works, and it's good at just being fun. This is going to make a terrific showcase Blu-ray.

I've also been going through the British series, Luther, starring Idris Elba. I can't call it a classic, but it has its moments. I especially liked the last two episodes of the second series, thought they were unexpectedly well-done.

I'm with you on Interstellar Charles. I liked it enough that I was very pleased that I went to see it. It's not a perfect movie but then again, very few are.
I thought they pushed the 'ending of the ending' a bit much. (ya, that's vague but I don't want to give it away.) I enjoyed the Sci-Fi science regarding the explanation of how it all tied together but I think Nolan caved a bit in trying too hard to stretch the 'infinite possibilities' for a happier ending. I almost get the feeling like the ending was originally written very differently but the investors demanded that it be changed to the current.

Yeah, you have to wonder what ending possibilities they had considered before arriving at that one.
I wish we had a local IMAX theater. I believe our closest one is 2 1/2 hours away. Yeah, checking on IMAX's website confirmed it. Interstellar would have been the perfect movie to see in the format. I'm hoping we'll get an IMAX in a couple of years so it doesn't have to be an inconvenient road trip every time. They're building a new theater here at the moment, and while they're doing Atmos, they didn't want to pay for IMAX, which I can understand.
In other news, I'm finally getting around to watching more Doctor Who. I'd only watched the first two episodes before, when I was visiting my sister. It's not keeping my attention particularly well so far, but it's more fun than some other shows I've tried out lately. I'll give it time to develop and pull me in.
Oh, and Bad Grandpa actually made me laugh. Parts of it were just stupid, of course, but they did make some pretty good situations, too.

Agree with you guys on Interstellar, it wasn't perfect but that's not really a knock. I got completely absorbed in the movie. A lot of breathtaking moments, and, Charles, it's too bad you don't have a closer IMAX theater.
Hmm, I have more to say, but I don't want to ruin it or give too much away. I will add that I appreciate the sense of danger and unknown in the exploration of space. I imagine that's what it must have been like for explorers in the past, a definite sense of thrill tempered by an ever present danger of not knowing what may come next.

I usually tell people to skip the first season of Doctor Who, Charles. Pretend it never existed!! Maybe even the first couple. It was just way to campy upon the early days of the reboot. It got better every season though, right to the current.

Really? You think this current season is any good? I mean, I like Peter Capaldi, but... geez. The stories have been done--down to the mysterious evil woman with a tight haircut who's omnipresent and has it in for the Doctor. (note that I'm only about halfway through the season).

I didn't like her at all either, until I discovered who she really was in the season finisher. It tied a lot together.
Mostly I think I just have a thing for Clara. (My wife still doesn't read these boards, right???)

Clara annoys me--and what they've done with her character annoys me more.
