While waiting for the delivery of my "first born" Axioms. I ask my self... Which CD will I listen to first? Which movie will I watch first? What would you do?

If you have a blu-ray player an excellent way to show of your Axiom speakers and subwoofer would be start off with movies such as The Dark Night Blu-ray(superb movie, great overall sound, amazing visuals), Transformers (o.k movie, amazing sound, good movie for dialogue/surrounds/subwoofer, Iron Man (I liked this one, a good movie to test the EP500, lots of deep bass). If you have young kids then Kung Fu Panda (Good movie, great visuals/animations, suprising LFE moments, great use of surrounds). All the above have incredible dynamic range as well. They should put a grin on your face .
I’m armed and I’m drinking. You don’t want to listen to advice from me, amigo.

I just got my grand master 500 yesterday and all I can say is HOLY S**T. The speakers already sound amazing right out of the box... I can't imagine what they will sound once broken in. I work in an electonics store where we sell mid to high end kef and other really good and really expensive brands. I have to say that these rival anything that we have in the store and they are a fraction of the cost. The one problem I am having is placing the sub. I can not find any spot in my room where it sounds good. Outside my house the sub sounds amazing (Im sure my neighbours already hate me) but I just cant find a sweet spot for the room. I tried doing the "sub crawl" with no luck. Anyone have any suggestions that may help with this?

Don't worry about any break-in with the Axioms, there is non. Hey Steve, do you have a drawing/picture of your room and dimensions?

If you have a computer in your HT area (or can move one there temporarily) the best thing is to download a program called REW (Room EQ Wizard) and do some measuring to see whats happening in your room.

the main room is 21x12.5x7.5 and then it is open to a bar area that is 10x9x7.5. roughly. It is an odd shaped room. I have used paint to draft a highly detailed floor plan of my basement... No it wasnt my 2 year old nephew who drew it he would have most certainly done a better job... Ok so apparently I dont know how to add a picture so you will have to go off the specs.

Yeah, I'm trying to vision the look of the room. If you have a pic you can give us the link to the picture, or use the image tag in front and at the end of the link. [img] link to picture [/img]

Also, how do you have the settings on the sub and receiver for the speakers and sub? You most likely will want all speakers set to "small" with a crossover of 80hz to start. Sub crossover knob should be bypassed, or cranked all the way to the highest setting, since the receiver is handling the bass management.

BK, welcome. You'll certainly enjoy the sounds that your Axioms will reveal to you, and to make your first music experience especially enjoyable I'd strongly suggest that you put on Holst's The Planets, preferably the versions by Mehta or Dutoit.

Steve, since your room isn't square or nearly so, the first spot that should be considered for the sub location is behind a main speaker directly in the corner which is farther from a large opening(doorway, etc.). The corner will excite all the room modes and give the strongest and smoothest response for a single sub.

I would also suggest, re what music to play, a couple of good acoustic cd's such as James Taylor or Gordon Lightfoot. Acoustic guitars really sound very natural on my Ax's.
