I'm considering downloading both of these operating systems and giving them a try. Has anyone else tried them out? Also, I just installed Windows 7 and it rocks!
Thanks

Aren't those pretty much pirated versions of the operating systems with a bunch of add-ons?

Has windows 7 been released yet or is that just a beta version?

Windows 7's official release date is Oct 22. I recently bought my wife a laptop with Vista and I've already registered for my free upgrade to Windows 7.

I was told that the tiny versions aforementioned are stripped down versions of the operating system's i.e. no drivers etc., and they run super fast. Going to check YouTube for them now . You can download Windows 7 from Microsoft's website. It's not a beta, it's called something else which is one step up from a beta. I highly recommend the download. I just got the new 1 TB Caviar green hard drive, and loaded it on it. Now I have a dual boot setup with XP on one hard drive and Windows 7 on the other. Just need to fix my unstable overclock which is driving me through the roof (computer freezing constantly).

Thanks dude, I found quite a few of them created by the same person, so I'll change them up frequently.
By the way, how long did it take Denon to repair your AVR?

The official designation for the Windows 7 you can get now is RC, for Release Candidate.

If you want a slimmed down version of XP, try nLite. I used this to install XP on my netbook and was able to get it down to just under 500MB. There are lots of good resources for what is safe to eliminate from the typical install. You can also slipstream service packs and drivers very easily.
I started out with nothing & I've still got most of it left M60 VP160 QS8 EP350 M22 VP100 Algonquins

Ditto nLite. I got sick of using a standard XP sp2 install disc at work to install Windows onto Macs (via Boot Camp), so I created an up-to-date install disc with nLite.
