The grinding noise came when the console was turned on, with our without a DVD in the tray. The box runs at it's normal volume 80 percent of the time, but every once in a while it is obnoxiously loud. I have the shipping box here but since it sounds ok right now I am going to wait a bit to ship it out. I spoke with a "resolution specialist" who is supposed to call me back on Monday. I am requesting a new console, but I requested a new one the last two times as well. My console is out of it's original warranty but I have a 90 day warranty that came With the refurbed xbox.

Honestly, I'm surprised that there has been no class action suite against MS around the 360s.

Honestly, I'm surprised that there has been no class action suite against MS around the 360s. Ironically enough there is one occuring against sony and the PS3. There was an update that ruined consoles and they are not replacing them for free and owners that had this happen have to pay full replacement fee (the last time I read about this).
