This is probably a really stupid question, but what is the bold on the back of my axiom speakers for? I have M22tis, a VP150 and a pair of QS8s. All of them have a small bolt or nut that looks like it takes an allen wrench?
What is this for?
Thanks.

Does anyone know when that was started (w/ the bolt)? I got my Epic Grand Master this summer but none of them had the bolt.

If you tighten the bolt, it will make the highs brighter.
If you loosen the bolt, it will tame the highs for a mellower sound.
What else could it possibly be for?
The above statements are completely false.

Hi,
Over the last month or so, with each new production run of a specific model, the inset threaded bolt, which enables attaching the FMB with one bolt, has been added to all the bookshelf, center-channel and QS surround speakers.

Hi dantey,
Before we introduced the bolt and the Full Metal Bracket (FMB), we advised customers to use wood screws (3/4-inch or less) into the rear baffle. They self-seal, so it doesn't affect performance. Keep a couple inches away from the inset that contains the speaker binding posts because the crossover is on the back behind the inset.
There are some brackets around that clamp the base of the speaker so you don't have to mar the finish. They are sort of clumsy but they work. Check out racksandstands.com. Big choice there.
