PmbukoIt's absolutely Awwesommme how people start handing over their old vinyl -if it's in good nick, that is.. The people that rushed to replace their lp collection with cds made a huge mistake, That is, if you had a decent collection. My 3000+ lp collection is worth so much now. Most of my records are priced on the used market at $40.00 and up (the highest being about $300.00). Vinyl lps are an excellent (albeit a labor of love) investment. And hold on to older cds as well. A lot of earlier, out of print releases are now fetching quite a bit $ too. Of course, if you have mainstream/crappy tastes, your collection may be less desirable to collectors...

I got rid of most of mine, but kept about 30/35 I thought were to obscure to ever go to CD. Mostly Jazz (and thought I'd always have a turntable, that was a while ago!) I'll have to dig them out and see what they were. (I've hauled them around for years)

Dig 'em out and go here: http://www.gemm.com/ and check out how much they are worth. If they are truly obscure (and in good enough condition), you may have some valuable stuff in your possession.

Hope they are in good shape, it was the times but the peyote and acid in the eyes was all in motion, but even with that I tried really hard to keep myself and guest to treat my vinyl well, And thanks for the link Trying to remember what speakers I had then, think they were Cerwin Vegas, then moved to Advents

Lol, yeah. We used to have "trip nights" in the late 80's where we auditioned new releases under the influence of trendy chemical amusement aids and light/laser shows. Good times. And remember, all old "heads" know the best way to clean and roll your weed is on an open gatefold record sleeve. Preferably Yes' Tales Of Topographic Oceans. Although nowadays, seedy herb is as rare as obscure jazz lps around these parts...

Redo, an amplifier isn't a musical instrument. All that it does to make the music "come to life" is to increase the input voltage about 25-30 times so that it's loud enough to hear. All amplifiers do this. One which would make the sound different, rather than amplifying transparently, would either be incompetently designed or damaged. A basic principle of audio technology, well-summarized by the Audio Critic, is that "Electronic Signal Paths Do Not Have a Personality!".
