And the radar isn't looking too sporty for the next several hours so I'm pretty much stuck indoors which is perfect for watching the NACAR race from Watkins Glen. Oh wait ... I can't do that because there's no signal from DirectTV.

 Whereas we would kill for a thunderstorm right about now in Dallas, even though Directv is working perfectly (more or less). August in North Texas! Ugggh!

That reminds me of southern Florida when I visited there years ago. We got thunder showers every day between 3:30 pm and 5:00 pm.

Water your lawn and wash your car. It makes the rain come. Painting your garage doors or windows will ensure some precipitation. If you use waterbased paint, it will rain harder.

I was planning to switch to DirectTV from cable. You loose the signal when it's raining??? Hell, where I live, about the only time it isn't raining is when it's snowing.

It doesn't happen whenever it rains. Only when severe storm clouds are in between you and the sat signal. I live on the New Eng. coast and it goes out maybe 6 times a year for a few minutes or an hour or so.
We're still glad we dumped cable, though the cost was comparatively less (to cable) when we first got it 6 years ago.
