JC,

Would my Axiom warranty be voided if I added another threaded insert in purchased M22's? I am worried about 16lbs on a single 1/4 threaded insert...

Honestly, the issue that's worrying you has happened to exactly one person that we know of since the threaded inserts started to be available. Many people use them quite safely on M22s and even VP150s, including the owner of the company.

kcarlile,

I am concerned about twisting of the m22 when mounted horizontally. The second insert would prevent twisting and ensure I do not have to torque too tightly on the single threaded insert to keep them horizontal.

Bill,

Your concern about twisting when horizontally mounted is valid, as I doubt the threaded insert is located along the center of mass in that orientation. My M22s are fairly old and did not come with a threaded insert. When I attached them to the Full Metal Brackets (vertically), I screwed directly through the brackets into the rear of the speaker with four round-head wood screws. If I were you, I'd forego the threaded insert entirely, locate the center of mass, and attach the mount at that location.

pmbuko,

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I am worried a single
threaded insert will not suffice for horizontally mounting the M22.

As I only need to adjust the speaker up and down when its mounted, the sturdy little bracket (SLB) will do for me. As the SLB has two threading holes, I am just waiting to hear back from an Axiom professional. According to Axiom warranty disclaimer, if i add a second mounting point, I will void warranty.

I'd clear it with Axiom first, but catalogue # 90975A063 from McMaster-Carr , pressed in from the back should give a significant increase in load capability over the smaller OD flanged insert currently used.

a401classic,

Perfect website thanks. Just waiting on their answer. I wouldnt mind doing the second threaded insert myself, but would pay Axiom to do it if the price was right...
